Spatially explicit assessment of forest road suitability for timber extraction and hauling in Switzerland

چکیده

Abstract Efficient forest management, and wood production in particular, requires a road network of appropriate density bearing capacity. The affects the choice suitable extraction method length transport route from forest, while standard defines truck type that can be used. We evaluate network’s economic suitability for harvesting operations entire Swiss an area about 13,000 km 2 covering range topographies, based on National Forest Inventory’s (NFI) dataset. This dataset is information interview survey with local services includes all roads Switzerland capable carrying trucks. Extraction options hauling routes are analysed together; thus, logging process examined. Model results include maps most method; costs; map combination results. While larger part classified as “suitable” operations, significant portions also fall into “limited suitability” “not suitable” categories. Our analysis provides objective, country-wide, spatially explicit assessment timber accessibility. resulting helps identify areas where using current network, it not. model used planning example, by comparing road-network re-design scenarios, compared to spatial distribution available volume.

Spatial and Temporal Modeling of Community Non-Timber Forest Extraction

This paper examines the interaction of spatial and dynamic aspects of resource extraction from forests by local people. Highly cyclical and varied across both space and time, the patterns of resource extraction resulting from the spatial-temporal model bear little resemblance to the patterns drawn from focusing either on spatial or temporal aspects of extraction, as is typical in both the model...

assessment of deep word knowledge in elementary and advanced iranian efl learners: a comparison of selective and productive wat tasks

testing plays a vital role in any language teaching program. it allows teachers and stakeholders, including program administrators, parents, admissions officers and prospective employers to be assured that the learners are progressing according to an accepted standard (douglas, 2010). the problems currently facing language testers have both practical and theoretical implications but the first i...

Global spatially explicit CO2 emission metrics for forest bioenergy

Emission metrics aggregate climate impacts of greenhouse gases to common units such as CO2-equivalents (CO2-eq.). Examples include the global warming potential (GWP), the global temperature change potential (GTP) and the absolute sustained emission temperature (aSET). Despite the importance of biomass as a primary energy supplier in existing and future scenarios, emission metrics for CO2 from f...
